We are located in Beulah, Colorado  near the foothills of the Wet Mountain Valley.  It is a beautiful area and a lovely small community.

My husband retired from 30 years as an Extension Agent in Pueblo County and he was the 4-H Agent.  I have had a 4-H club for many  years, but when we moved to Beulah, I started offering our 4-H program to youth that are not able to own their own horse.  Of course we also have some that do have their own but my main emphasis is on urban youth.  This program gives them an opportunity to learn how to care for a horse, learn how to ride properly and safely, as well as a chance to actually show their horse.  Most of the kids have never ridden prior to our program and some have never even been around horses.  It has its challenges but is such a rewarding program.

We use our own horses and each child has a horse to care for when they come for lessons.  They have to keep their record books, do demonstrations, and community service work.  We have had several "At risk youth", that is youth that have been neglected, abused, and are under foster care.  What a wonderful thing to be able to watch them learn responsibility and unconditional love that a horse can give.
 We truly believe
NO CHILD IS DISPOSABLE
and that caring for a horse can change their lives.
